Figure 4:  The Final Choice

After deciding to replace your old car with a "new" one, you need some answers to many questions:

What should I buy?  New?  Used?  What do I need?  What do I want?  Do I want what I need?  Do I need what I want?  What can I afford?  Where do I go?  How do I decide?!

Your journey to find answers will begin by examining your preferences and answering a series of questions regarding what you want and expect in your purchase.  It may seem that some of the questions are irrelevant, but is not necessary to complete every question. However, the more answers you give, the more relevant the final choice will be.

What is most important is this:  At the end of this task,  you will given an unbiased recommendation.  This is important to do before it comes time to shop for a car.   Too many people  rely on an emotional choice at the time of purchase, and later regret their lack of preparation.

You will be given many recommendations on cars that are "right" for you, based on your answers.  Consider the top ten choices, narrow the field, and make a decision as to which one of these you would like to use in the development of  the Decision Matrix.

NOTE:  The Advisor will recommend NEW cars!  You will be using  this recommendation for Column One of the Decision Matrix (New Car Column).
The remaining two columns will be for a similar make and model of different ages.

Your Task:

Clarify your preferences and choose a vehicle.   Begin the search for your Dream Car at this website:

My Product Advisor.

Document  your visit to My Product Advisor's website by doing 4 things:

Print out a copy of "Your Current Inputs".  (See Figure 1) This is a list of your preferences.  Label this Printout "Step One, Part A" and keep it in your folder with other documentation you will collect as you proceed through this WebQuest.

List, or print out the top 10 recommendations. (See Figure 2.)
Label this as Step 1 Part B.

Narrow your choices by removing undesired cars from the top 10.
(See Figure 3.)

Print out the final recommendation.  (See Figure 4.)
Label this Step 1 Part C.  Use the data from this final choice
for the New Car column of the Decision Matrix.

Some Questions to Consider When Writing Your Conclusion:

What do I consider to be the most important factor when purchasing a new car?  What kind of new car can I afford on my budget?  Do I need or want all the accessories that come on a new car at an additional cost?  What comes standard on my vehicle?  How long do I plan to keep this car?  How important is gas mileage?  How realistic is this new car to my present lifestyle?
