Who is Kevin Simon??!! All right, I answer the question straight off and get on with the line of reasoning. Kevin Simon is the name that Enoki Films Inc. was going to give Kyoichi Saionji in what was to be an English dubbed version of Shoujo Kakumei Utena. The show was going to be retitled Ursula's Kiss, and all the sordid and frightening details can be found here. Fortunately this horror never made it to American TV or video stores.

Meanwhile, there is no actual line of reasoning other than the truth of being of Kyoichi Saionji himself. He is what he is. And there is no way to dress it up fancy. But let's give it a try.
He is tragic and insecure even in triumph. He can be devoted and loyal, oftimes for the wrong reasons, and thus despite his appearance of strength and competence, weakness whirls throughout his very soul. He needs the existence of others to justify his own existence--- more so than anyone else in the story---more so than even Nanami, who uses others, but needs only herself to justify her existence. Without Anthy Himemiya, the Rose bride....without Touga, and Akio, and Utena, and even Wakaba....without the concept of The Revolution Of The World...The Arena of Duelists....The Student Council......without all that, there would be no Kyoichi Saionji perhaps. So.......Who is Kevin Simon? How does he define himself without the context of others? Surely Saionji himself does naught know. There is no cowbell of happiness for this pilgrim.

This line of reasoning has absolutely nothing to do with anything whatsoever anymore. But at one time, the intention was to allow you to have a choice of either going directly to page you desired, or you might have previewed some of them in a pop up window. The setup was intuitive, but I felt insructions were necessary even though it should have been obvious what to do. For example: click GO to go to the page. Click PREVIEW to preview the page. And so on..... If the preview had suited your fancy, then you would have closed the popup window and clicked GO. The preview pages, of course, no longer exist. Also, I had created popup windows where appropriate to give a detailed explanation of a site, or a grouping of sites. You would have clicked WHY to find out more if you had deemed it necessary. This page used to be called
Gilbert's World of Anime. Then when Gilbert Brown was released by the Green Bay Packers, I renamed it Be Like Billy! The intention was to make this a Shonen Anime site. Also, the idea of combining the Green Bay Packers with Anime amused me greatly. The site was going to have ongoing Green Bay Packer updates (these are now archived here.), a venture that was obviously doomed to futility. The site was to be a portal to my Shonen Anime sites....the annoying kid brother to my Shoujo site, Calling All Girls! Gilbert has since been resigned by the Green Bay Packers, and Billy Schroeder was released and now plays for the Detroit Lions. Now, the form and persona of this site has been catapulted off in some other direction....not other in the sense of antinomy or deviation. This site remains true, if not truer, to it's original spirit. It's just that it's been catapaulted off in SOME direction...as opposed to remaining it where it was. A tedious sense of simplification might compel one to describe this site as one associate of mine has described it: "....it's Shonen NASCAR meets Black Holocaust Museum as Martin Heiddeger might have imagined it!!!." I have to admire his sense of verve and determination, however, since my gut instinct tells me that, truth to tell....that this site is more like watching an episode of The Beverly Hillbillies or Petticoat Junction than I'd ever care to imagine. |
